About Beth

What to expect during your first massage

If you have never experienced massage, you may have some questions. I've tried to anticipate some of the common questions but if you don't see your concern addressed, please email me at beth@urbanamassage.com.

If you are a first time client, please arrive five to ten minutes early in order to fill out a brief health history. It is essential that you inform me of any accidents, injuries, illnesses, medications or surgeries in your past. After you have completed the intake form we will have a discussion about your treatment goals, what areas of your body on which you would like me to focus, and any areas you would like me to avoid. This is your session so please share with me anything that I can do to increase your comfort. This includes adjusting the room temperature, changing the music, and the amount of pressure I am using. People have varying degrees of comfort where these things are concerned and I am open to hear what you like.

I do not massage the genitals and will only offer abdominal work with your verbal consent. If you would like breast work, please tell that to me before we begin the session. Otherwise, breasts will be draped, as genitals are in all cases, with a sheet at all times. You choose your level of undress. You may remove your underwear if you are comfortable to allow me to work on your gluteals. I will be outside of the room while you remove your clothing and get underneath the sheet. I will knock before I enter the therapy room and you may indicate if you are ready. During the session you may again share with me your needs in terms of temperature, pressure, music. The session will last one hour, beginning at the point that I start the massage. I will do a full body massage unless we have discussed otherwise. When the hour is finished, I will leave the room and you may take your time getting up from the table as you may be dizzy, sleepy, and very relaxed. When you are ready, you may dress and we will discuss further desires for treatment. This is also when you make payment. Sorry I cannot accept credit cards so please be prepared with check or cash.
